Viva la Resistance
I've been bad this week. Just back from retreat and what am I doing? I'm renting DVD's like "The Night Listener" and stuffing my face with candy while watching them. So much for resisting the vending machine. Actually, I haven't purchased anything from the vending machine since I've been back, so I guess in a sense my resisting the vending machine has worked. Hey! I feel better already! I probably won't be renting any movies after this week, though, as my schedule is filling up with work and school already.
I had my first class on Textual Criticism yesterday morning before an eight hour shift at the bookstore and today I have another class on methodology in the afternoon. I signed up for four classes total, but two of them are eight-week intensives that start in March. Since I'm working full-time, I may need to drop the Tibetan text class and take it later. I don't think I can handle four classes while working full-time.
I'm also getting going on my new work-study assignment this semester in Marketing (actually Admissions). If someone can set up a database for prospective students, I'll do a lot of data entry and stuffing envelopes. Hopefully, the schedule will be flexible enough that I can take work home over the weekend. Oh, and I may also visit Dharma centers to try and recruit some students. We'll see how that develops.
Nothing really Dharma related to report at this point, though Garchen Rinpoche, a tulku in the Drikung lineage, will be visiting L.A. in February and I hope to attend those teachings. I'm also trying to figure out my summer plans. I was looking into doing retreat this summer, but I may need to stay here and work.
Viva La Revolucion! :) woo-hoo!
Enjoy Garchen Rinpoche's visit, we sure did last month.
May the Dagpo Kagyu Lamas Live Long!
