Shameless Plug for UWest
UWest is holding a Campus Preview Day, Thursday, November 15th from 5:00 to 7:00pm. Applicants who attend will have the $50 application fee waived. We have undergraduate majors in Business, Religious Studies, Chinese Language and Literature, English, History, Psychology, and Philosophy. There are master's programs in Business Administration and Religious Studies (with specializations in comparative religions and Buddhist studies), a Ph.D. in Religious Studies (with concentrations in comparative religions, Buddhist studies, and Chinese Buddhism), and the university is putting together a Master of Divinity in Religious Studies to train Buddhist chaplains as well. Use of the word "Divinity" is problematic in Buddhism as it is a non-theistic faith, but that's the standard degree in the field of chaplaincy, so we're going with that. Hopefully it will begin next fall.
I'll be showing the residence halls that evening. Here's a shot of the pool outside the residence halls (all photos courtesy of UWest's website):
We had a Halloween party Friday night with games and (dun, dun, DAH!) a haunted gazebo. We're a bit small at this point for a full-on haunted house, so we started with a gazebo. It was the hit of the party. I'll post some pics from that later.
Also, check out the new blog link at left for UWest's new chapter of Amnesty International.
