Long Time No Write
Sorry it's been so long since I updated this. At first I was busy, but then I just got lazy. After the end of the spring semester, I moved everyone over to another residential building because we re-floored the regular building with tile. I did get 11 days off, but I was still doing a bit of work, preparing for my thesis, and joyfully sleeping. I managed to avoid getting sick until the Saturday before New Year's, but now I'm still getting over a bad cold.
Vacation ended on the 2nd, and now I'm getting geared up for everyone to move back into the main building next week. It's going to be crazy. Classes then start on the 14th.
This semester, in addition to work and my thesis, I need to take two classes: Women in Buddhism, and Buddhist Thought and Philosophy. I'm looking forward to them both, but wondering if I can survive all the work I need to do this semester.
Anyway, to get caught up with some of what I've been up to, here are a few pictures:
This is me with Corrine, the Presiden't Assistant. I called myself "Buddhaclaus" (note the mala around my neck). This shot and the next one were taken at UWest's end of the semester x-mas lunch/party.
From left to right: Michael Tran, the school's new receptionist, an anonymous Taiwanese nun with my hair and beard on, and me. I told the nun she should wear that all the time.
Unfortunately, the "insert images" function has stopped working, so I'll have to add a few more later.
In other news, I'm preparing to apply for my visa to go to South Korea. I'm also trying to sell my car. I'm going to use my Dharma Master's car this semester as he's in HI and has left it here with me. This upcoming move is finally starting to feel real. Oh, my Dharma Master ("Unsa Sunim" in Korean) also gave me some Korean robes--a winter "coat", a formal outer robe, and a bikshu's outer robe (since I'm applying to directly do the Bikshu ordination). I will continue to collect robes slowly, I'm sure, as things progress.
Time to run errands. Leave a message about your plans for 2008.

Glad to read you again and to know that new things are on their way. I wish you all the best in your studies and moving. Drop me a line before you arrive in Korea, if you wish.

It's alive! Hey little brother - glad to hear you're back on the blog. It's pretty much the only way I know you are still among the living. Take care of yourself this semester!
