Her Majesty's Secret Service
I just received this via email. British spies have confirmed that the PRC staged the initial riots with fake monks being violent in order to justify cracking down on the simmering dissent in the region. Apparently, they didn't expect things to spread to neighboring provinces and to get out of hand as they have. Check out the full article by Gordon Thomas of the Canada Free Press here. The photo below is from the same site. Please make sure you spread the word and let your elected officials know.

I don't doubt at all that this is possible, even likely, but that article's a little thin on evidence. How is it that such privileged info only fell into the hands of one reporter at the "Canada Free Press"? I'd like to see their official statement, photos, etc.

You make a good point. I'm a little out of touch with mainstream media, though, so I'm not sure if it's gotten into the national or international media or not.

This E-Sangha thread (http://www.lioncity.net/buddhism/index.php?showtopic=67613) seems to pretty well determine that the photo you post here is actually from 2003. But towards the end of the thread there's more damning contemporary evidence of Chinese foul play.

An interesting piece of news: We learned today that a group of about 2,000 Chinese People's Armed Police is at Palyul monastery in Kham. They've ordered the monks there to fly the Chinese flag from a monastery roof, but the monks have so far "not complied." PAP detachments are also stationed near Kathok and some other large monastic centers in Kham, according to people we've talked to.
